AMIGOS DE ATAQUE

The backseater in the A-29 in this shot was an Air Force A-10 instructor pilot who had earned a DFC in Afghanistan for saving a MARSOC team from being overrun, then went on to be part of a Mobile Training Team to help the Colombian Air Force refine their attack aviation doctrine and prepare them for participation in Red Flag, Maple Flag, and Angel Thunder.  He started 2014 in the back seats of Colombian OV-10s and A-29s, and ended it as an F-35 pilot and weapons officer for the 61st FS out at Luke.  Whatever complaints people may have about the F-35, the involvement of dudes like this in the program is a good sign that the Air Force is at least trying to bring some solid CAS/FAC/CSAR corporate knowledge into the JSF community.

Love those old Sikorsky H-34s. I remember seeing Navy and Marine Corps versions flying low over Pacific Beach and in Oceanside. There was one from China Lake that stopped at Sky Harbor when it was still legal to step foot on the flight line.

Agreed.  In my opinion one of the most photogenic helicopters out there - even as a derelict, broken hulk, it still looks good.

Here is an image (#15) from my illustrious "My Yard" series.  It isn't a great photo as the subject is a bit far away and the sky was mostly cloudy--but the subject itself was an eyecatcher for me.  Plus, I do enjoy being able to snap the occasional photo from my back porch!  ;D

The Legend of the Guardian of the Line
The Greek God "Linus" comes from the Greek name Λινος (Linos) meaning "leg."
In Greek legend, he was the son of the God Apollo who was accidentally killed when he stepped over the white line.

From the S-3 arrival...  It avoided a long final approach, so it stayed quite a distance away from where I was staked out.  If not for the "Harvest Hawk" floating around at the same time it all might have been disappointing!
