Note the interesting light diffraction in the air behind the outboard edges of the flaperons. Similar to what we've seen at El Centro. This my 2,000th post. Perhaps not my best but a milestone nevertheless!

Thanks Harvey! I've also seen that effect while looking through my binoculars at jets landing at Sky Harbor. Helps to have clouds in the background to see it. More pronounced when the aircraft is coming more or less directly at or away from you. That way you're looking through a long stretch of the affected air (vortex).

Got to watch two F-35's make there first landing at Luke AFB. One of them was for the USAF's 61st FS, and the other was the first RAAF F-35 to call Luke home.
