Interesting background. Yesterday after I got back to the house I wondered aloud to my wife why a "royal" from Qatar would come to Phoenix in the middle of summer? She quickly said, the Mayo Clinic. Who knows, maybe she's right.

Regardless of who actually owns and was using this wonderful example of flying wretched excess, my genealogy shows we're related  ;D

It is a Mayo Clinic visit, and the Qataris and Saudis have been coming here for many years to go to the Mayo Clinic.

The Legend of the Guardian of the Line
The Greek God "Linus" comes from the Greek name Λινος (Linos) meaning "leg."
In Greek legend, he was the son of the God Apollo who was accidentally killed when he stepped over the white line.

My wife is a patient from time to time at the Mayo Clinic. If they ever suggest treatment at a clinic in Zürich, I'll know who to ask for a ride  ;)

Well, as a recent frequent patient at Mayo, I can confirm that the treatment is the best that money can buy (or in my case, the best that the taxpayers' money can buy). That is why they have hotels co-located with their facilities.

After what can ranked as my worst worst 4th of July, I was happy to come home and review images from Friday's VIP arrival of 747-8i VQ-BSK.

Paul and I had set up on the south side, gambling that she would repeat her earlier arrival on 25R.

Sorry to here that your 4th wasn't the best Dave. These shots should have lifted your spirits. Very nice touchdown shot from the east side with the parking structure as a background. We were on top of that building and we saw you guys across the way. Nice work!

Thanks Harvey.

Pretty pleased with our results from the south side.  You guys had some great shots from the garage too.  Gives a fresh look to those south runway arrivals.

Sorry to hear your 4th celebration wasn't as enjoyable as anticipated. As Harvey noted, your shot from 40th Street is a "home run" and hopefully helps to assuage the disappointment of the holiday. I suspect any images you have slightly earlier in the landing will show a contingent of lenses pointed in your direction from the top of T4. We were guessing that was you across the way. While it definitely was a hot day, I don't think your total disrobement was appropriate for the occasion. Accordingly, in the spirit of good taste and decorum, I've chosen not to post those images  :o ;) :)

I actually do have an image with Dave and Paul in the background that I'll be posting in the next day or two.

Thanks for the words gents.

I went back and took a look at my shots with T-4 in the background.  Here's the first image, wondering if you are all the dark blobish thing on the top level, right side of pic?

I checked, but didn't see anything when she was passing the east economy garage.

Could be Mayo Clinic, or it could just be that PHX has room to "hold" this bird while the owner jets off to other destinations in the west.  I'm guessing, but I bet ramp space at PHX is "cheaper" than LAX, LAS or DEN and it's easier to get to Aspen or Tahoe or similar by Gulfstream or Citation X.

If this really is the current Emir's dad, he had/has some health problems that have brought him to Mayo in the past.  His 747SP was parked at East Cargo for several weeks a few years back for that very reason.

Almost seems like BA is descending into Dante's Inferno.

Some of those BA passengers, that might be first time visitors to Phoenix in the summer, may actually conclude (upon leaving the terminal) that descending into Dante's Inferno is exactly what they've done  ;)

And here I thought it was nice today.  Being that it barely got above 100 today.   ;D

Lets try this.
Well it still does not work, sorry but I can not get Squardspace to post a BBCode photo on here. If you got any tips, please  :)

Found out from Squaredspace that they do not do BBCodes (yet) . but this link will send you to the photo.
