Davis-Monthan 2012

I'm planning to attend the Davis-Monthan open house on April 14th for the first time. Any tips anyone can offer on locations, procedures or anything else to help me get the best photographs will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You should join us off base for arrivals and practice on Thursday and Friday.  There are some unique angles to be had and some awsome light toward evening on each day.

On base means pretty much facing the sun for most of the day for flying subjects so I'd suggest finding a spot on the "wings" of the crowd line where you can pick subjects up as they start banana passes from over your shoulder.

So time is drawing near, was wondering who is going for the show, arrivals etc.

Deadline at work this Friday, so I'm a no-go for arrivals.  Not happy about that, but it is what it is.  90% not going to the show.  All-day backlighting just ain't worth fighting the crowds and the heat (with its attendant haze).  But who knows.  Maybe y'all will get another U-2 fly-by.

Three Ship Diamond

No arrival show this year. They flew over show center split up and scouted the area to pick landmarks and they landed. Miss the days when the whole city knew they were in town.
