The rules for this photo challenge are;

1.  This month's theme is "Sunrise/Sunset."  The picture should be taken from 1 hour before to 1 hour after either sunrise or sunset.  ONLY PHOTOS TAKEN BETWEEN JANUARY 9th and FEBRUARY 9th WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.  Please keep this in mind.

2.  One photo per member (you can change your photo as many times as you like until the deadline).

3.  Photos should be uploaded directly to the "Photo Challenge" thread for the current contest (this thread).

4.  All photos must be submitted to the Photo Challenge thread no later than 11:59pm Arizona (GMT-07) time on February 9th.  Voting will begin on February 10th and close February 17th.  Any photos posted after the deadline will be deleted from the thread and not eligible for consideration.  You can only vote for one photo and it cannot be your own.

5.  The winning photographer will select the theme for the next assignment.  Keep in mind that assignments that are aircraft- or airport-specific may limit the ability of other members to participate.

6.  Have fun!

If you don't know what time Sunrise/Sunset are (at least for the Phoenix area), try this web site to help you plan your photo shoot;

I'd also reccomend "The Photographer's Ephemeris" which is a great piece of software showing Sun/Moon Rise/Set graphically over several different kinds of maps.  Seeing the Azimuths displayed over a Topo Map is especially handy!

Jay,

Only looking at the screenshots, this program looks awesome!  Will have to download and install ASAP!

Huge thanks on that!

Ah ok. Well I think I should take it down then, I agree it should be a aircraft involved somewhere in the shot. I will see what I can come up with for a new shot  ;D

Joe Copalman

Lots of clouds in the forecast over the next week, and clouds can mean some really good sunsets.

Reminder - 2 weeks left in the Sunrise/Sunset photo challenge.  The skies have cleared - time to get out and get the winning picture.

I'm sticking with this one

Here's is my result from an early morning at PHX today.  Captured at 6:53 this morning, about 1/2 hour before the sun peaked out.

After pondering it for a bit, I decided to crop some off the bottom.

Ned, thanks!
