Not sure how else to describe.  First heard, then saw, this formation flying overhead as I walked through a parking lot earlier this afternoon in Mesa.  Only had the cell phone with me, thus the resulting image (yes, that's the sun in the image, was looking just about straight up).  Six aircraft, and all appear to be single engine.  More of a loose gaggle than anything else.  Given their apparent altitude, relative close proximity to each other and sound (sounded relatively low-bypass/nice jet sounds).  My take is some sort of military formation.  Anyone care to take a guess?

I think your hunch is right.  Saw something similar at a Luke show several years ago, three Super Hornets headed east in a similar loose formation.
"I'm sorry sir, you can't take photos of that aircraft."

"If you've seen my work, you'd know I really can't take photos of any aircraft."

The USS George HW Bush just returned.  Do they have any west coast squadrons embarked (other than Whidbey's Garudas)?

The Legend of the Guardian of the Line
The Greek God "Linus" comes from the Greek name Λινος (Linos) meaning "leg."
In Greek legend, he was the son of the God Apollo who was accidentally killed when he stepped over the white line.

AZFamily (Channels 3&5) Facebook page had a picture of that too.  They asked for more pics of it and comments.  Comments are funny, some say chemtrails, contrails and one said is was meteorites because there was no planes in front of the trails.  Plus all the smart ass comments.
