The L-1011 that's been sitting at TUS for the last 10+ years is getting prepped for a ferry flight to Kansas sometime in the coming weeks.

I've been watching this airplane for signs of life since March.  I have seen a on a couple of occasions large groups of workers around the airplane and some equipment, but not much else.  I have only been able to check on weekends, but I have seen some activity.  There might be more going on during the week.  I have not stopped to ask anybody over there either as I have gotten rather unfriendly looks when I have seen anybody near the airplane as I drove by!

Chris Heising posted something this week on Facebook about watching it taxi from the 162nd ramp.
"I'm sorry sir, you can't take photos of that aircraft."

"If you've seen my work, you'd know I really can't take photos of any aircraft."
