I have a ton of images that I'll roll out slowly as per the request of my guide. We only made it through half of the place, too!

Yes, I'm on top of a C-5A.  ;D

Oh hai!

Number X of a long and storied line.

Stare down.

A Phantom's ghost.

Just a few.

Excellent Brian...  Looking forward to seeing more.

A NASA F-106 that was the testbed for making a rocket plane. The big plate on top of the nose is the anchor point for a cable to tow the aircraft. Yeah.... confused me, too.

Apocalyptic ghost plane?

Three MiG killers. During Desert Storm, the left plane shot down a MiG-23 on 28 Jan 1991, the middle plane shot down a Mirage F-1 on 19 Jan 1991, and the right plane shot down a Mirage F-1 as well. Sad to see these planes just sitting here, wasting away.

David and Goliath. This F-14 (BuNo 159437 'AC202', USS John F. Kennedy VF-32) is one of the two that engaged, and subsequently shot down, two Lybian MiG-23s over the Gulf of Sidra on 4 Jan 1989. It has yet to be scrapped because there is interest for museum placement, and I hope to God it goes there! Its wingman (BuNo 159610, 'AC207') is currently on display at the Udvar-Hazy part of the National Air & Space Museum in D.C. Again, so sad to see a battle proven hero just sitting like this.

Solid salvo, Brian!

I think that F-106 might have been the last airworthy one before NASA retired it.  I remember seeing the images of that being towed behind a C-141 in an old issue of World Air Power Journal and thinking "WTF?"  Good to see that hasn't been scrapped yet.
"I'm sorry sir, you can't take photos of that aircraft."

"If you've seen my work, you'd know I really can't take photos of any aircraft."

Great Series!

I try to avoid the "hearts and flowers" approach to AMARG, but how is that gondola not in a museum?

Thanks, Jay! I agree with your sentiment, but there are a few things there that SHOULD be in museums somewhere. This gondola was originally slated to be restored down in Florida, but returned to AMARG at a point in time I can't recall right now.

Terrific series Brian. I'm always looking forward to your next post. I especially like your "fisheye" work in these last few images.
