This is from an upcoming article that I'm writing on a personal friend that I have known since I was a little kid, and is from the Major Paul Greer (Retired) Collection.
This photo was taken after a fuel divert that happened after their bomb run on their way back to England, during the divert they tangled with the Germans.

I was using a 1956 Kodak Retina IIc in 1976, working on the Van Nuys airport for American Jet.  Several of the Pregnant Guppies were there.  American Jet fabricated them, & so they collected there.  I remember climbing inside one of them & thinking that a basketball game could be played inside them.  I was sorry to see that they were in various states of disrepair.

Mercury S-1 White Racer

The Mercury S-1 racer was designed and flown by Harvey C. Mummert in 1931. He was Chief Engineer for the Aerial Service Corporation, Hammondsport, NY. He flew the S-1 at several air races in the 1930s. At the 1932 Chicago Air Races he placed third in the Free-For-All Edelweiss Trophy 25 Mile Race at the speed of 139.8 mph.

My father, Lawrence A. Wood, restored this airplane to an airworthy configuration and flew it once in the early 80's.  Our family donated the airplane to the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum for their Mercury Aircraft collection.

It has been ages since I visited the museum. On my list of things to do one fall color season soon.

Not a photograph, but a special letter my mom was kind enough to share with me regarding the death of my great uncle during WWII. Definitely proud of Uncle Sam's service to our country. He was part of the original "Flying Tigers" early in the war and was flying his beloved P-40 when he was killed in action.

The remains of a unknown allied bomber in Germany during WWII. This from my mom's uncle's collection of photos he found while he was in Germany with his Sherman tank division. They where professionally shot by a unknown German photographer. I'll post more soon.

The photo is of my uncle L J (Jack) Rhymes, on the left, who served in the US Army Air Corps during the late 20s to early 40s. The aircraft is seems to be a Curtiss A-3 Falcon. The photo was taken at Fort Crockett, Galveston TX home of the 3rd Attack Group

I'll throw this in.  I don't know what it is, or when it was taken.  My grandmother, who died in 1984 used a box camera.  This is one of about 500 negatives I have.  She lived on a farm most of her life, and was fascinated with the new, and with cities (30,000 was a metropolis to her).  Look down into the tiny lens, throw the lever, and take the picture.  It was taken somewhere in Ohio, and I would guess in the 1940s.
