Thanks Vance, it is definitely one of my favorite dog photos.  Dogs are harder to photograph than humans, they see the camera and freak out making it impossible to get a good photograph.

Beautiful shot Ned.  How close did you actually get.  Your raptor shots are so very nice.  I really enjoy looking at them.

Vance: Thank you. This is shot from my SUV with a double bean bag resting on the window glass. It's a 700mm (500 f4 + 1.4x) on a 1.3 crop factor body (thanks Jeff). The sun angle caused me to drive past the bird and then swing over to get the shot. My experience told me to drive past slowly at a constant speed and avoid eye contact. This technique works well with perched raptors.

Its technically fall, but the leaves havent really started to change yet where I am west of Boston, but I hope to get this same shot with more natural color soon.
