Under the heading of "I Need To Get Away From Airports And Shoot Other Things" comes this:

Chandler Veterans Oasis Park at Lindsay and Chandler Heights.

Lately, I've run across several posts in other places of some great bird shots (including a Burrowing Owl) so if anyone is looking for some birding ops, this looks like a nice place!

I will confirm Veterans Oasis Park as a great spot for bird photos, though it is definitely best to go in the winter.  Sun at your back from most angles, and far more birds.  Here is an egret I shot there earlier this year:
