Western Diamondback typically strike up to a distance equal to 1/3 to 1/2 of their overall length, although longer reaches are theoretically possible.

This was taken just north of Roosevelt Lake. Came across a 4ft Blacktailed rattler also up there I'll post a pic of him later on.
