I'm probably going to try and get a week away from work soon. I figured I'd pack up the truck, toss the KTM in the back and take my dog and go somewhere around Az. and the southwest in general. I just don't know where.

Give me some good ideas of of where to go this time of year for some good photo ops, keeping the locations not more than about 350 miles away.

If I could just get away just to take photos, I'd go north.  Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell, Antelope Canyon, Zion, St. George, Rt. 66 between Flag and Kingman - not in that order, but all things I'd like to hit.  I'd come home via the 95 south from Needles to Blythe, possibly catching a sunrise over the Colorado River, then hop on the I-10 east to come home.

I've always wanted to shoot Horshoe Bend, but from the other side. I'm checking with a distant friend who used to fly a little helo out of Page. If she can drop me on the inside of the bend, that would be most excellent. Riding in on my KTM, or hiking in are other options. I don't see any road or tail on Google maps that makes it all the way in there, so it could be a challenge.

The rest of those ideas are all excellent Joe. Thanks.

Thunder Over Utah airshow at St. George in July.  Lots of jet warbirds up there, plus the Blue Angels.

Hot as hell. I think I can handle it.  ;D

Good suggestion Jay, but I hope to get out of town before the end of July. I may have to run up there for that one anyway. It's not that far.

Sir Scott:

If you head to the White Mountains, give me a call. My wife was born-n-raised in Alpine and I've spent the better part of 40 years wandering the region.

As Eric said, it is very pleasant in the summer.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm officially off June 30th for the entire week. I'm going to try and get a couple days off at the end of this week also. Whatever I'm going to do, I'm going to try and have it done before the 4th. No sense in being out amongst tons of tourists.
