Longer-endurance mission without tanker support, perhaps?  This isn't uncommon to see on Hornets making long-distance flights.  I believe all the -224 birds we caught leaving NAFEC on the morning of the last photocall had three tanks.  Seen it at Willie several times as well.

Oh, and pretty sure this is a -314 bird.

It was the odd number of tanks that struck me as, well, odd...

I would think that would play heck with balance when full.
