Yeah he told us, but while we discussed where to go it called tower and took off. But thanks for tipping us off, at least we managed to see it from the distance.

Joe Copalman's comment (WTI 2011) about this being the last NEO for the CH-46s led me to post this photo taken back in November of 1978. In those days if someone from the airport approached you it was to give you a lift in their golf cart to the next airplane you wanted to photograph!

Here's a photo of Sky Harbor from the Garrett archives taken in 1953 I believe.  Love that tower.  Got to go up in it a couple of times when it was still in use.  Quite a big deal for an eleven year old.
