Just wonder how many of you photographers are also pilots?
I got my ticket in September and fly a Archer III out of DVT but last week I got checked out in a 172 over at GEU.
They have 3 172's over at Aerosim so now I have 4 options to fly in. I did that because the Archer has been waiting to get in for it's 100hr inspection for a month now.
Anyway if your interested in chipping in for fuel or rental let me know. Helps to allow me to fly more often and lately it's only been like once a month and I would like to get out more like twice a month if I can.

Cheers,
Chris

I have my PP ASEL and my medical is good but unfortunately I'm not current...  :'(

I would love to rectify that situation at some point though.

I do have about 150 hours in C172s.

Yeah believe me I want to fly every day but thats not going to happen.
I had a 30 min ride in a Bell 206B Jet Ranger a few weeks ago, it was a blast.

PP ASEL as well.  About 190 hours since starting in '05.  I rent Falcon Exec's Skycatcher.  Most of my time is in their (since retired) Cherokee's and DA20.  I fly every three weeks for an hour or so before trudging off to work.

That's cool, How is that Skycatcher? What does it rent for?

Chris,

It's $115/hr wet.  I have just over 20 hours on it, and I like the 'lil bugger now that I'm used to it.  As an LSA it's smaller and lighter, but the power is adequate - even on those hot and humid days.  I haven't had it at any higher altitude strips though - just FFZ and P08.  It's sight picture is different - you really feel like you are diving down on final.  It also doesn't want to stop flying - it keeps on floating.

I liked the DA20 more, but they took it off the line a few years ago.  Not sure why.

I do miss the old Cherokee's though - I could plop those lead sleds down on a dime.

I have my PP ASEL as well. I have done most of the flying for Instrument, Commercial, and Multi at CGCC/UND, but ran out of money to finish the ratings. Then the photography hobby kicked into hight gear, so I haven't flown in years. Miss it terribly.

With the way fuel is going it wont be long till it's impossible to afford for me too.
They really need to get Auto fuel without the ethenol in it at all airports.

Just wait until the current administration gets their way and tacks on an additional $100 per flight "user fee."

The type of gas burnt soon won't matter.
