There are reports of many injured and possible fatalities.

If it really that bad, it could end air racing in this country.

"You don't become a professional simply by earning certificates, adding ratings, or getting a paycheck for flying. Rather, professionalism is a mindset. It comes from having the attitude, the ethics, and the discipline to do the right thing — every time, all the time, regardless of who's watching."

Just heard from Ken Koller who just spoke with Keith Charlot out there - says pretty much all the photographers are accounted for and were not near the crash.  I know a few who are out there as spectators, so I'm still a little on edge.
"I'm sorry sir, you can't take photos of that aircraft."

"If you've seen my work, you'd know I really can't take photos of any aircraft."

If I remember correctly the pilot was out at Pima last year looking at our Grumman Guardian, he was restoring one like it for the air races. Super nice guy.

The Legend of the Guardian of the Line
The Greek God "Linus" comes from the Greek name Λινος (Linos) meaning "leg."
In Greek legend, he was the son of the God Apollo who was accidentally killed when he stepped over the white line.

CBS is reporting:

Reno air race crash: At least 3 dead, 56 injured

We knew some people that were there, but they have all checked-in.

Thanks Matt, while still not great it is a huge weight off, as with most of you im sure you have made quite few friends into the whole aircraft photography thing that will have been at Reno, lets hope that that are all safe  :-\

This from a friend who is an old F-100 pilot. He had a friend, and fellow F-100 pilot up there at the race.

As a regular attendee of the Reno Air Races, I felt I should send this
to you. I will get back to you in a few days.
We are all OK, a visit to the hospital for a few stitches, but we are OK.
The airplane hit directly in front of us in box b100, 30' maybe 50' away?
The hole about 3 ft deep. I did see the flight of the airplane from the time
it pitched up until I realized I may make it, if I just rolled off my chair for the
ground. All of the blast and debris from the impact thus hit my back. I got
three stittches, so I consider myself not hurt at all.

Sounds like a tough old goat.

The report basically says nothing except there was a crash and it is being investigated.  Not much more could be expected at this time in the process.
