The "N" number comes back to SCALED COMPOSITES LLC  as the maker and owner. Model 355.   ???
"You don't become a professional simply by earning certificates, adding ratings, or getting a paycheck for flying. Rather, professionalism is a mindset. It comes from having the attitude, the ethics, and the discipline to do the right thing — every time, all the time, regardless of who's watching."

There's a fairly extensive article about it here:

http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/generic/story.jsp?id=news/awst/2011/05/09/AW_05_09_2011_p52-316747.xml&headline=Northrop%20Grumman%20Aims%20To%20Take%20On%20Predator&channel=awst

The engine is a Lycoming TRP-540, which is a six-cylinder horizontally opposed piston engine that is in a lot of general aviation aircraft, including the Cessna 182.

The Firebird is an optionally piloted vehicle built by Northrop's Scaled Composites in 12 months. There was a pilot on board for today's flight.

Interesting the pilot is on oxygen.  Incredible catches out there, Ned.  Hoping I can get down there sometime.
"I'm sorry sir, you can't take photos of that aircraft."

"If you've seen my work, you'd know I really can't take photos of any aircraft."
