Lufthansa A340 back when they were still flying into Sky Harbor.

Quite the surprise arrival at Sky Harbor this afternoon..  Not something often seen at Sky Harbor, that includes the type of aircraft and this particular paint scheme.

Wow, great catch, I wonder what it was doing here, I doubt it will be a regular although it would be pretty sweet.

My bet - some Sultan or Emir is at Mayo.....

Did it show up on FlightAware?  Or was it a completely unlisted flight?

It was not on flightaware whatsoever.

It was not on flightaware.  There was a ton of security around the plane, and a fair amount escorting the entourage as it left the airport.

No idea on its planned, or unplanned, departure date.  Would be great to catch it leaving too!

I just got reminded in the paper that the Arabian Horseshow is on going from the 13-21st, I dont know someone would have be dropped off for that, but thats I can think of.

I think it's the same sheik/emir that comes for cancer treatment at the Mayo Clinic out here, the one that usually brings the 747SP.  The Sultan of Oman used to come to PHX a lot for the same reason - he came in an SP as well.
"I'm sorry sir, you can't take photos of that aircraft."

"If you've seen my work, you'd know I really can't take photos of any aircraft."

Thanks, it would have been nice to get more of the Air France logo, but then it wouldnt have been as head on, tradeoffs.

This is a photo I took of an Iberia A340-300 taxing after arrival into LAX back in September of last year.
