Very cool shot with the vents, Chris.  Also love the wide shot of it on the ramp.  So good you were able to get it with no lurkers in the foreground (or lurkers who conveniently stood in places making it easy to clone them out).

Thanks Joe, the clone tool is my friend  ;D

So what exactly are these for?

Exhaust vents for the Chemical Oxygen Iodine Laser (COIL).  Combustion inside six modules generates the lasing medium of hot ionized gas that exhausts out the bottom of the fuselage.

Rick and I endured a cold, wet and windy Saturday at DM.    I don't have much worthy of posting, but can someone ID this aircraft for me?

N159AM is part of the collection of the Pima Aerospace Museum.

Dang, Chris, what a shot.  The backlighting actually works for this one.
"I'm sorry sir, you can't take photos of that aircraft."

"If you've seen my work, you'd know I really can't take photos of any aircraft."
