Big ol storm hit Benson a few weeks ago. I decided to see what the commotion was all about and caught these guys playing around the mountains.

Did some air to air shots for a friend at the glider club a week or two back. 1957 Type 45 Slingsby Swallow

This particular T-45 is one of, I believe, 2 left in the states and the last one ever made before the factory burnt down.

Couple more shots and a video. Club is having a contest this week, so there are gliders a plenty.

Went out shooting this week and got this shot of my friend while he was using my 1858 New Model Army Black powder pistol. (Italian replica) Was very lucky with the timing, as my XTi's 3.5 fps burst isn't very fast.

Spent some time out at Tempe Beach Park and got this shot last night.

Figure I was close enough to Sky Harbor.

Well, she should be up in the next month or so. I believe all they're waiting on is some new rubber for the skid and couple other finishing touches, mainly for ascetics. Otherwise its flight-worthy.

It's been quite some time since I've posted here, and its been a similarly equal time since I've taken some aviation shots. However, yesterday I was out at the gliderport (I'm a member now!) and got these shots:

Didn't want to put too many on the thread, so there are a couple more on my flickr.

Started playing with a lighter one night. So this is what it looks like to start a fire..

I'm very excited for the position, no stress about getting the necessary shots, and I love candids. Fortunately its a very close group of friends for the most part so I'm not to worried about personal boundaries  ;D

Miscellaneous / Returning to Photography with a vengance

So its been a long time since I've been active here, or with photography for that matter, gear trouble and all. But I'm finally getting back into things. I bought a 50mm f/1.8 a few months ago and fell in love with it and tomorrow I receive my brand new 70-200 f/4 L USM lens and Canon 430EX Speedlite. I've found a passion for portraits in my time without a telephoto and hope to be focusing on that more now.

As such, I have started a venture into my own photography side-business. Still looking into details about what I need to do to make it legal/official but I'm excited to at least try and make some money on the side. Just did a family shoot and have a wedding (I'm just a back-up candid photographer) and 2 engagement shoots lined up to expand my portfolio.

Hope to make it out to some Fly-ins or airports soon and look forward to getting back behind the shutter!

It's been a long time since I've done any real photography, let alone post anything here, and its been bugging me. Since I became limited to the stock 18-55 lens my passion for photography has slowly died. In order to rejuvenate myself I decided to pick up a Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens and went out to play tonight.

I fell in love with this lens quickly, though being my first prime it was interesting getting used to the fixed focal length. I feel like I did alright though and love the sharpness! Looking forward to playing with this at the PASM night shoot.

It's been awhile since I've shot any aviation, but still managed to pull off a few shots today at the open house.

Would be nice if I could get this close to aircraft more often!

Thanks for bringing this up, as I had no idea they did that. Just bought LR3 on Feb 29th and just submitted my case to adobe. Here's hoping for the upgrade!

I don't know if you have the ability to do this, but what I've done is just add internal hard drives to my desktop. All I've added so far is 1TB, but I have the option to add up to 5 extra Hard Drives of any size. Additionally the internal hard drives are generally far cheaper then their external counterparts. It should also be fairly simple to set up remote access to your computer should you want to access it from anywhere.

If you don't already have a desktop, I'm willing to bet you can build one yourself for around $500 with all the capabilities you may need.

Just thought I would check in with some of my latest work:

I've been getting into time-lapses recently and I just spent this past weekend in the mountains of Pine Valley California and took this while I was there:

Played back at 15 fps

And yes, that is the moon!  8)
