Submitting photos to be published

Is there a preferred size and resolution for photos submitted for magazine publication ?

AFAIK, you submit per the publication's specs...

I'd give the intended "target" a call to find out what they prefer.

When I had a photo published in Popular Photography last year - they wanted the highest res picture/file they could get.

I know Flypast wanted 300 dpi, but then the Editor said I would get paid and never was after a couple emails.  At least I was published and got a free copy....word to the wise.

They'll let you know, some are very specific and some just want it clear and colorful.
