I shot about one frame every five minutes for 5.5 hours...
I re-framed each shot by hand (500mm + 2X TC x 1.3 crop = 1300mm) and then registered all the images in post.  Time consuming, but fairly easy
There are a couple stars that show up, but given that the moon is a sunlit object (pre-eclipse), the shutter speed is too fast to let the stars register.  Also, each frame is scaled up to 150% so most of the stars were simply cropped out.

Little by little, the rust is falling off my video skills.  It's funny how much of the battle is not related to hardware or processing but rather, as in still shooting, you need to develop (or re-kindle) an eye for story telling and remember to look for those little details that move things along.
