You should send the fuel dump photo to the Contrails Conspiracy folks.  Give them something to chew on.  ;D
Neat catch.

Gah, I dont think we should be feeding the crazies with anything that they can use to perpetuate their illusions.

Excellent Bill.  I was really hoping for a flyby during the Open House!
Yeah, when we were driving onto the base I saw it but then realized was way too far for their static display, I then thought I would drive around the other side of the base after the show but again we were directed east so tired and with a 3hr drive ahead of me I decided to just bolt, a decision I regret now

Very cool set of images, Jay.  My favorite is the wide-angle shot.  Just a very cool feel to it.

There wasn't a whole lot of time to get "creative" because once they cut the tug loose, they got going pretty quickly.

It was kind of funny that when we got up on the balcony of the Future of Flight, I'm scanning all across the way looking for the 787 and it took me a minute or two to realize she was actually parked below us as seen in #2.  Even the APU is unusually quiet so there wasn't anything to call attention to the fact that she was only about 100' away!   :-\

And man, it was dark!  ISO 6400 in #2 and it was all I could do to manage 1/30 or so on the shutter speeds.  Not a lot of keepers until the sun started to try and punch its way through the cloud deck.  Too bad they couldn't have waited until the afternoon which was gorgeous and lighter winds meant they probably could have departed to the north instead of to the south.   :'(

Great images Jay. Sounds and looks like you had an interesting experience and very cool opportunity. Look forward to hearing/seeing more in the future.

+1 with Joe on the wide-angle - I really like the 787's swoopie wings.

Really awesome, Jay, looks like it was a great experience!  I also agree, I really like the wide-angle shot.

The Legend of the Guardian of the Line
The Greek God "Linus" comes from the Greek name Λινος (Linos) meaning "leg."
In Greek legend, he was the son of the God Apollo who was accidentally killed when he stepped over the white line.

Conditions sucked; however, I wanted to see this bird in-person. Here is the best I've got thus far. I'm working on a B&W version; however, I'm not quite satisfied with that yet.
