Sorry what other kinds of Aircraft do you think will be there.

Jay Beckman

Well, the Ford Tri-Motor that has the rainbow paint job lives there so that's one probable subject.

There's a Grumman Duck, a Staggerwing and some other fine aircraft as well.

Any idea if the firefighting units are stationed close by? Might be a good chance to get some of those folks as well since you're (relatively) close.

Just an FYI, the Surface Winds per Weather(dot)gov show from the SW on Saturday so we may have some hazy skies at Valle.

Hope it doesn't impact the viz so severely that it affects flight ops.  :(

Is the plan to still meet at Deer Valley to work out carpooling? I was going to be able to drive, but I found a small leak in my power steering and don't want to chance it failing on a road trip.

Aren't the fires to the SE of Valle?

Aren't they more or less on a line between Flag and Williams...?  I was just thinking that any type of northly flow would be a potential issue.

According to http://www.nifc.gov/fire_info/nfn.htm the closet fire to Valle is one that is 4 miles north of Flagstaff, in Coconino National Forest.

Valle is dead-nuts north of Williams with quite a ways west of Flagstaff.  We should be good.

When are people leaving?  Google maps says its a 5.5 hour drive from Tucson, and the website says that things start around 8. That means I would need to leave by 2:30 am.

Gates open at 8, but last year, the only thing that flew before 9am was the O-1/L-19.  Looking at my EXIF data from last year's shots, looks like a -51 flew at 9:20-ish, followed by an F4U at 9:30ish, and then two more P-51 flights at 11:20 and 12:10.  After that, stuff still flew, but the light was a bit dodgy.  We're aiming for an 8:30ish arrival.
