(let's try this again)

Hey all, new to the forum here. I'm based up in Prescott, and while we don't get quite the level of activity the major fields get, we do get our fair share of fun activity. Here's some modern military action from the past year or so, civilian and warbirds to follow.

On the civilian side, Prescott is probably most known for two things: firefighting in the summer, and Embry-Riddle flight training year around. We do get some other fun visitors though.

And last but not least, warbirds. We don't get too many, but it does happen every now and again.

Here's the March roundup of fun traffic in Prescott. Mostly military, but a few others thrown in for fun.

Well, not quite the March roundup, as this HMH-366 CH-53E came in earlier today. Always fun seeing an east coast squadron out here.

That's a good variety of aircraft fly through Prescott Brian, nice catch.

Thank you! Had a Chinook come in today, so hopefully going to get that departing tomorrow. We may be small and very busy with flight training, but we do get some fun traffic every couple weeks or so.

theflyboybrian

It's been so busy, doing a mid-April update.

Right after the USAF T-6s arrived, this Navy one decided to join the fun and stop by. By pure chance, turns out they were all headed to the same place.

theflyboybrian

Not quite done with April, but some good stuff in the past 10 days

DSC_3543 by brianlafetra, on Flickr

AZNG came over to the ERAU campus to pick up some ROTC cadets and fly them up to Camp Navajo for some training. I will never get sick of shooting in the early morning light.

DSC_3666 by brianlafetra, on Flickr

The return flight was a little less ideal lighting wise, but it was still fun to shoot the pair of Black Hawks from closer than you'd normally get at any other public location.

DSC_4270 by brianlafetra, on Flickr

Another Embry Riddle sponsored event, a pair of Laughlin AFB trainers came over to KPRC to let students walk around and ask questions. They brought the 85FTS heritage bird, with a scheme commemorating the 47th Bombardment Wing, which looked absolutely stunning at 6:45am in front of Granite Mountain

DSC_4200 by brianlafetra, on Flickr

They also brought a T-1A, seen here laying down some jelly on a spirited departure. This was my first time seeing one, and since they're going away at some point, it was fun to get to shoot it.

DSC_4226 by brianlafetra, on Flickr

And somehow, a completely unrelated pair of Laughlin T-6s showed up for gas and lunch an hour before the ERAU sponsored ones did, so we all got to watch their departure from the ramp.

Fire Season has begun, and the tanker base up here in Prescott is active as always.

And this, which I know isn't up to normal quality standards, but is way too unique not to include. A B-52 did a low approach in Prescott last week, this was shot from my house about 4.5 miles away. I've never seen one in the air before, and I cannot believe Prescott, Arizona, would be the place I'd see my first.

Man... I'm just up the road in Flagstaff. I should head down your way more often! Nice shots!!

Thank you! Prescott is a bit sporadic when it comes to unique traffic, never know what may come in and when, but fire season is definitely a busy time, especially if the scene is close by.
