I think it is fair to say this is a "walk-off" home run. Man Jay, I think this is my favorite Goshawk photo ever. Composition, 3/4 going away, post processing; it has it all for me.

Thanks guys...

Just playing with some new software.  I need to revisit the technique and see if I can figure out where the graininess came from so I can do it with a little less texture.

As it is, it's a little bit to "crunchy."

Jay - If you processed in Silver Efex Pro 2 first and then used a Hue/Saturation Level to bring back the color, it can sometimes introduce additional grain/noise. You can really achieve some great PP by performing most of the processing as a B&W conversion first - then use whatever methods you prefer to bring color back into the image. I think it may be the best way to have ultimate control over contrast and structure.

Just my 2-cents.

BTW - One of the reasons I love this image is the grain/noise.

I like it because it turned out a little "painterly..."

Looks a bit like the OPT stuff that a few aviation guys were dabbling in on Flickr a few years back, just a bit grainier.
"I'm sorry sir, you can't take photos of that aircraft."

"If you've seen my work, you'd know I really can't take photos of any aircraft."
