Jay, Great shot of one of the coolest of all aircraft.  My father had a good friend that flew P38s and P-51s in the South Pacific.  I remember him remarking about the smooth power of the engines.  I suppose because they were turbocharged (as opposed to supercharged), there wasn't the loud crack of the exhaust stacks like on a Mustang.  Must have been a wonderful experience flying those over the South Pacific Islands.

My favorite feature was always the concentrated guns near the centerline of the aircraft.  Always seemed like a much more natural place to mount guns than on the wings.

The impressive thing about GG (ok, beyond being rescued from 300' of ice and all that...) is that she does sport the 20mm cannon (or at least a facsimile of the 20mm barrel) that other P-38s lack.
