It was supposed to visit Tucson, but went straight from San Diego to Willie.  Pity the poor fools in Tucson who didn't even get their touch-and-go.

I got lucky and caught this big boy on short final into Willie earlier today. As Brian noted, it wasn't on the ground for more than 30-seconds. Unfortunately, it came in on Three Zero Center and I got caught on the wrong side for the best light (if that is possible @ 11:00 AM). I got some interesting reflection on the bottom of "jumbo".

Thanks James - this guy definitely had his own program workin'. When he bounced at Willie it sent a dust cloud hundreds of feet into the air.

So true Joe. I was pleasantly surprised to get as good an image as I did. Regarding the blimp, I've actually been in one and they don't move any faster in the air than I do on the ground - slow

Great capture Matt. I really like to entire composition; panorama crop, muted saturation, and the juxtaposition of the buildings/mountains/jumbo - tremendous effort.

I got to thinking about how a photo of a big white plane against a spotless blue sky might look as a b&w image. Here is my conversion effort. Nothing too drastic. If you look closely, you will see the reflection of my truck (and me) in the fuselage.
