The Legend of the Guardian of the Line
The Greek God "Linus" comes from the Greek name Λινος (Linos) meaning "leg."
In Greek legend, he was the son of the God Apollo who was accidentally killed when he stepped over the white line.

Looks like a Boa constrictor after swallowing a large animal.  Great shot.

I swear before they painted it, it looked like a giant flying Salmon...

This is my first post. The 747-8F is at Yuma International  Airport. There several photos in this thread of the whole plane, so I took a couple a little closer. In the photo of the front of the plane, you can see something yellow and red on the engine. I'm not sure what is is.

Welcome Lynn!  Nice close ups...

I wonder if that's dye of some kind so they can see airflow from that point back along the engine and even on the flaps?

Either that or the engine is going back to GE!   ;)

Jay,

Hmmm...didn't know that RR was 'assisting' GE with the maintenance on their new GenX engines... ;)

D'oh, you beat me to it!  :)

Nothing comes to mind as to what the yellow fluid might be, other than a tracing dye to track the airflow patterns - like Jay had suggested.

The red looks like it may be hydraulic fluid, but most 'hydraulic' actuators on turbofan (or darn near any jet) engines actually use aircraft fuel as the motive force (as in fueldraulic), so not sure what would be leaking hydraulic fluid from/near the engine.

I'm not sure if the thrust reverser actuators would be hydraulically or fueldraulically driven.

Pilot to copilot: Where that little red and yellow plane go that was in front of us just before takeoff? ???

Those engines are certainly large enough to suck in and entire red and yellow Cessna.  They look large enough to suck up a school bus.   ;D
