Mystère IVA - Variation X

I really am liking "Variation X" a bunch Scott. The low angle really helps to isolate the image and I think you absolutely nailed the perfect amount of DOF control - the Maestro of the f/stop.

I would apologize, but I think we did you a favor  ;D

Here are a couple more; both taken with "that" lens...

That lens in the hands of that photographer are a great combination! I tend to think it's more the guy with his finger on the button!

Jeff, I failed to see your note on "Variation X". Thank you! Considering the scramble to get a number of shots while the light was good I would attribute a fair amount of the success of the shot to luck.

Stunning, Jeff! I was going through my dad's old photo stuff and found a Mamiya/Sekor 50mm f/2 lens. "Your" lens and adapter are on the way, with the M42 adapter showing up tomorrow. Gonna try the Mamiya lens and see how it does, then compare it to the one you have. :-)

Brian, pretty sure my father had that lens along with Mamiys/Sekor body (until I commandeered it!). I'll be curious to hear what you think about that lens.

Scott, I have the Mamiya/Sekor body that goes with the lens, along with a Pantech (?) 28-80 f/3.5 and a TON of filters for both lenses. Also have a Vivitar flash and a couple cable releases. It's been a long time since I've shot B&W film, but I just might have to get back into it using some vintage hardware. :-)

Scott & Brian - You both are waaaaay to kind to this old man. First and foremost, we had some exceptional lighting conditions. Combine that with a unique airframe, terrific old glass, and Scott's new A7RII and all I literally had to do was trip the shutter.

That Mamiya/Sekor lens looks very interesting and a quick search online reveals lots of positive comments and images. I'm looking forward to your work with this lens Brian. If I had not already leveraged all my extra cash in Takumars, I might go hunting for one on eBay  ;)

Here is another view of our Blenheim now in restoration:

Hey John, I really like these progress photos of the Blenheim. What a unique airplane.

I know I tease you about not painting some of the older airframes, but I have a serious suggestion for your consideration. Has PASM ever considered inviting a custom hot rod shop to come and paint one of your aircraft? If not, I suggest you give these guys a call - http://www.roadkillcustoms.com/#axzz3lpHtWWHE

You could give them a go at one of your funky British airframes and I'd bet they'd do some seriously cool work. Not sure what you'd call an airplane that's been "restored" by a Rat Rod shop, but it would sure be cool  ;)  ;D

I have no doubt that the results could be interesting.  It wouldn't be impossible--but it would have to be an airframe brought in from a scrapyard by the rodders.  In a sense, that is what the "Boneyard Project" airplanes were about.  It would be expensive for them to do with little or no payoff in return.
