Thanks.  The noise issue is a problem, but i'm not sure how to fix it,  I'm probably introducing noise a number of ways, so i need to work on that.

Do you have your ISO setting on auto? That can be the issue, higher ISO=more noise..

Alabama Air Guard, perhaps?  Almost looks like there's a "D" at the beginning, but that wouldn't make any sense.

I think it might be CALIF AIR GUARD. They have a 129th Rescue Wing at Moffett Field that used to fly the Albatross back in the 60's (according to Wikipedia).

It's definitely the 129th Rescue Squadron (as they used to be called). Here is their symbol, and it's still visible on the tail of the airplane.

Based on the PASM book the aircraft served with the 129th from 11/1957 to 11/1963 when it went into MASDC.
