Finding Dad's T-33

Hey You Guys:

Dad asked me if it is possible to determine what happened to his T-33? Specifically, the one in his photo that I posted here - http://azaerophoto.com/forum/index.php?topic=2158.msg58521#msg58521

The serial no. is 52-9542N

Any chance some of our more informed members can tell me where this bad boy may be resting or if it has been recycled. It would be a treat for Dad to know what happened to the T-Bird he spent so much time in.

Anyway, here's what they've got:

T-33A-1-LO s/n 52-9542 *1953: Arizona ANG 197th FIS.
*1962: Missouri ANG 110th TFS.
*Massachusetts ANG 131st TFS.
*California ANG 197th FIS.
*12/1971: Transferred somewhere?

Thanks Joe for the excellent info. Not to throw a fly in the punchbowl, but the aircraft is marked as a T-33N-1-LO (see image below). Not T-33A-1-LO. A quick Google search does not show/find an "N" model. Just mismarked? The SN is correct.

BTW, I believe the other shot you linked was taken by Dad the same time he took the image I posted. I'll try to confirm tomorrow.

No idea on the "N," but it's inconsequential since the serial number is unique and would not be assigned to another aircraft.

Thanks for the clarification Joseph. Dad will think it very cool that you can tell him about where his T-Bird served after his time in the back seat was over.

Thanks Anna. At the moment, I'm only scanning prints Dad has let me borrow. He is reluctant to let his negatives get too far from home. One of these days I'll talk him into letting me have the thousands of negatives and reels of movie film he has stashed at the house. I'm confident there will be many gems to scan and share. Making a proper scan of properly prepared negatives should really yield some terrific images. I'm especially hoping to find a few negatives that snuck home from his sorties to Edwards in the late 50's.
