General Dynamics F-16D Fighting Falcon
310th Fighter Squadron (310 FS) "Tophats"
90-0778

On December 27, 1992, this F-16D, flown by Lt Col Gary L. North, downed a MiG-25 that violated the no-fly zone in southern Iraq with an AIM-120 AMRAAM missile. It was the first USAF F-16 air-to-air victory and the first AMRAAM kill. The MiG-25 kill marking was placed on the left side just below the canopy frame.

The Legend of the Guardian of the Line
The Greek God "Linus" comes from the Greek name Λινος (Linos) meaning "leg."
In Greek legend, he was the son of the God Apollo who was accidentally killed when he stepped over the white line.

Jeff and Scott, thank you for the kind and encouraging words. I do enjoy shooting low light and night exposures. It's a little more challenging than high noon photos. I'm looking forward to the 35s doing more night work soon. Thanks again gentlemen.

Harvey,

I was about to make a comment joking about the closest guy needing some fire coming out of this tailpipe, then I noticed the streak of fire (middle left) that actually came out of someone else's tailpipe...very cool!

Thank you Dave, there were 2 on the runway and two more waiting, I opened the shutter when I saw the first one light the afterburner.
