A 5 shot panorama of the Superstition Mountains from the Apache Trail.

Last night, as the thunderstorm drifted across the east valley, I set up my camera to take a sequence or four-second exposures and then assembled a time lapse movie of the storm.

This morning I selected twenty-two frames with visible lightning taken over a span of twelve minutes and assembled a composite image of the storm:

My wife and I recently celebrated our 16th anniversary with a little SoCal road trip.
The Avalon shot above is from our trip as are:

Congrats on the anniversary Jay. Even in this stinker economy, I imagine the house in Santa Barbara is worth slightly more than when your parent built it - very nice.

Catalina is such a beautiful and intriguing place.  It's also not a very easy place to shoot because of the lighting.  Your shots are beautiful (as usual).   8)

I stayed on the Queen Mary during one of my business trips to LA several years ago (actually much longer that several years because the Spruce Goose was still in the Dome next to Queen Mary.  I just remember how magnificent the quarters were and how they must have been during the ship's prime years.  Beautiful shots Jay. :)

Thanks Vance...  It was a very unique experience and I'm glad we tried it.

The accommodations were surprisingly nice given the vintage.  It was explained to us that the Queen Mary was not quite as segregated as things were portrayed in Titanic.  There was no "steerage class" per se.

Essentially, the price breakdown from her glory days went something like:
3rd Class: An Average Car
2nd Class: A Really Nice Car
1st Class: A Very Nice House

...and this was in 2010 dollars!  :o

My dad actually sailed on the Queen Mary back in the late '50s or early '60s.

The Legend of the Guardian of the Line
The Greek God "Linus" comes from the Greek name Λινος (Linos) meaning "leg."
In Greek legend, he was the son of the God Apollo who was accidentally killed when he stepped over the white line.
