When an old man like me can't sleep past 4:00 AM, I take my Hasselblad gear and wander.  A couple of images from recent predawn sorties.

Harvey, It's been under construction for 70 years.  From what I can find, Crazy Horse's face was the easiest part.  You can see in some of the photos, the outline of the horse's head.  That's the next blast area being planned.  The completion of the project is TBD in every post that I could find.  There is plans for not only the monument, but also a Native American University as part of the project.  It will be amazing to see if and when the project is ever completed.  TBD could be a long time

Heck of a nice "squeeze" young man.  Wonderful balance of the very early morning warmth and slowly vanishing evening cool.  Not an easy balancing act  ;D

Thanks Jeff...

Disappointed with the atmospherics, but we do what we can do with what we're given.

Such is the challenge.

A couple more of the images I managed to capture this morning.  The last one was a last minute grab that I happened to see after I was 2/3 of the way down 'A' mountain.  The moon managed to reveal itself under the far off cloud layer.  Was quite dim, but still like how it turned out.  Reminds me of those scenes from the original Star Wars on Tatooine.  The vibrancy of the sky, as the sun ascended behind me, was also quite striking to me.

What a great find Jeff, a very pleasing composition, love the brick with more than one advertisement on it. The peeling facade or attempted concrete repair on the left edge, fire escape, it have so many features that blend into a cool look at the history of Globe.
