The Star Wars guys were walking around the El Centro show like they do every year and my uncle goes hey lay on the ground and I'll have them draw down on you and put a boot on your chest. I was laughing my ass off, the one storm trooper goes "sure well do that we have been waiting for this all day on the ground rebel scum" lol!

I told them I wasn't the photog they were looking for!

That Ferrari is quite a nice car.
Here is a Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster.  Not as erotically curvy, but more exotic.
And a Dodge Viper representing the domestic exotic.

In addition to shooting aviation I try to do some bird photography.  I find it far more challenging than aviation.  Lots of erratic flight paths and a big need to quickly dial in exposure compensation.

Gorgeous shots, Glenn.  Looks like you and Ned are *cough* birds of a feather.
"I'm sorry sir, you can't take photos of that aircraft."

"If you've seen my work, you'd know I really can't take photos of any aircraft."

So...what does one do to help pass the time while spending countless hours on a cycle trainer in the backyard...

You can always break out a flash or two and play around with some OCF.  Yes, getting the framing and the focus was quite a bit of 'fun' (read as many, many shots), but shooting at f32 really helped with the DOF.  Tried to drop the background as much as I could, but f32 was the smallest I could go on a sunny morning and still hit my sync speed.

PS - that is sweat, not a boogie, on the end of my nose.

Inspired by Eric's "Superstition Light" image, I've spent the past couple of day playing with the sliders on an image file from earlier this year.

Dave: Nice Experiment!  Consider getting ND filter(s) for in front of lens and you can avoid having to go quite so deep in your DOF...
Jeff: Stunning!  Love the details!

Hauled myself out to Canyon Lake last night (10/9) hoping there would be a good light show over the lake.  Good drama but no pop...

Thanks Jay. That is one of my favorite views of Canyon Lake - love the soft light you captured. Based upon when the worst of the storm hit my house in east Mesa, the "pop" probably came waaaaaay to late - darn mother nature.

Thanks Jay!  Will do next time.  Have any good suggestions on a brand that won't break the bank?
