The Legend of the Guardian of the Line
The Greek God "Linus" comes from the Greek name Λινος (Linos) meaning "leg."
In Greek legend, he was the son of the God Apollo who was accidentally killed when he stepped over the white line.

OLD SHAKY

Credit for illuminating the side of this beast goes to the "Thomas Jay Regional Park" softball fields just south of PASM.
Normally this ambient light is an unwelcome nuisance; however, it came in handy on this photograph. Shortly after making this exposure, they turned the lights off

Like my fellow photographers on this outing, I spent the first hour or so trying to capture some of the wonderful golden light that comes at sunset. I'm particularly fond of the Fairey Gannet PASM has on display. After the sun had gone behind the mountains to the west of Tucson, the Gannet was bathed in a very soft warm hue that I thought illuminated this unique airplane in a striking fashion.
The best photo of Pima's Gannet I've seen yet, including any that I've taken over the years.

Thank you Scott. I really like the Gannet. Such a funky unique design.

WORD'S BIRD

Pretty cool little AzAP-related "Easter Egg" on this bird.  Stenciled along the left side under the canopy are the words "PLANE CAPTAIN S/SGT BILL WORD."  Yes, the same Bill Word.  I asked John about it and he said that Bill used to volunteer at the museum and they used to include the names of volunteers on their display aircraft.  Kind of a cool little find.  I've shot this bird before and never noticed it.

Thanks Joe. It was especially nice when they turned the lights off after I finished. In the end, those bad boys didn't pollute any other shots at that end of PASM.
