Got home late, it's 3:00 AM and I still can't get to sleep - so let's get this topic going  

A big thanks to PASM for hosting us, to John for setting things up and for the escort duty. I enjoyed shooting with our new member Anna and appreciate those who brought coolers and water. Great time last night, looking forward to doing it again.

Here is my version of one of the oft photographed B-52's adjacent to Valencia Road. Rob both helped and inspired me on this image. Therefore I title it....

I worked on this image for quite some time last night. 10-minute exposure at f/22.

The moon was almost directly overhead and bounced some interesting light off this Thunderstreak.

The moon was almost directly overhead and bounced some interesting lighting off this Thunderstreak.

Nice composition and overall feel. Great job of limiting the potentially busy background to a nice and simple vignette showing just enough to give a sense of place.  The shadow and the wing really work nicely together.  The blue stripe on the wing even lines up with the fuselage shadow.

Love this shot, Jeff.  You can also see the Blue Angels F-18 that Ken was popping with his strobe in the background. 

Even the tail of a Hustler looks fast.

Awesome composition, Harvey.  Matt and Jeff were talking about this shot a lot on the way home.  I dig the reflections on the flaps.

Thanks Joe. At first I thought Ken's flash hijinks were going to ruin the shot, but they added an element of interest for sure - thanks Ken.

Here is a shot that did not turn out so well. I wanted to explore some light painting on the British Fairey. I think it is a funky looking aircraft and thought it would be a good candidate for my light painting experiment. My postmortem seems to reveal several issues that did not contribute to the image I envisioned. First, I don't have any experience with light painting - note to self; practice, practice, practice. Second, I forgot my color gels for my flashlight. Third, I did not have a flashlight with a zoom feature. Accordingly, I could not focus or diffuse the light as needed. Fourth, I took this image before the sunset was complete and we were in total night sky. The fading sunlight complicated the exposure.

I'm not sure why the moon did the star burst-thing, but that is also not what I was going for. Oh well, I have much to look forward to on our next visit.

Was a pleasure to meet everyone last night.  It was a fun evening and I appreciate everyone's hospitality.  Thanks to John Bezosky as our host and keeping track of us through out the evening.

Love the photos posted so far.  I think I have a couple keepers amongst the ones I shot.  Definitely have more to work on for technique.  As Jeff says,  Practice, Practice. Practice.....
