CAL FIRE OV-10A seen here departing Fox Field, Lancaster, CA.

CAL FIRE currently operates a fleet of 13 OV-10 aircraft.  CAL FIRE uses the OV-10As as command and control of aircraft on wildland fires. The crew provides tactical coordination with the incident commander on the ground, providing information on the movement and spread of the fire. The OV-10A crew then directs CAL FIRE's airtanker and helicopter pilots on where to make their retardant and water drops.

You don't concentrate on risks. You concentrate on results. No risk is too great to prevent the necessary job from getting done.

Wow. What a great image. I've seen this air tanker on the ground but never in the air. I'm envious.

Great shot Matt!

Thanks guys!!  I took this shot the day we arrived at Fox Field.  Luckily it was moving day (Mojave to Fox Field), so I had my camera with me (normally I was leaving it in my hotel room).

Here's an Air Tractor 802, being used to spread a dust suppression mixture on some construction graded dirt plot, as a demo for the company which makes the mixture.  The aircraft being used is a standard fire fighting AT-802.
The location wasn't so good with the powerlines and houses in the background, but you take what your dealt.

Thanks Joe C. for the info on this event, the location and time.  Got a nice free lunch out of it also.
