Plane crash this morning in Casa Grande (2/6/13)

Sad news this morning...

"Two people are dead after a small plane crashed near the runway at Casa Grande Municipal Airport on Wednesday morning, officials said.  The plane, a twin engine turbo prop plane, crashed shortly after 11:30 a.m. just north of the runway..."

Doesn't sound like a typical stall on approach. If the witness's account is correct and it went straight up for two or three hundred feet before descending, the aircraft would have had some excess energy to bleed off.  It's more typical to get too slow on approach and simply stall and have the nose drop.   Tragic in any case. Very sad.

Assuming that the traffic pattern favored RWY 5 for use of the ILS, I'm going to guess "Trim Stall" combined with a possible over-rotation on takeoff if what the last guy interviewed said was true about the nose-high attitude.
