Thanks Steve!
After only shooting video at Coolidge I needed a fix of slow shutter and only 12fps! HaHa!

1:1 SCALE KITBASH

Looks like a mash-up of a Republic Seabee and an Aerospatiale Gazelle.

Trying to put the two passions into one photo...storm only yielded a couple of good bolts...

A photo from the "way-back-machine". Before I could drive, I spent many a Saturday riding my bicycle to Falcon Field where I'd beg for rides from the local pilots. I also learned to swim in that pool in 1960.

My wife learned to swim in that pool about twenty years later.

Amazing how much that place has changed.

The first time I remember going to Falcon Field was in the late sixties.  Lot's of cool stuff there, Constellations, P2Vs, B-17s, CH-21s, etc. Somebody had a Sea Fury as I recall but that was in the seventies. I'll try to dig out some slides.  The P2Vs (six or so) were owned by Floyd Stillwell and had been parked along Airlane at Sky Harbor in the early sixties.  According to Floyd they only had a few hours on them.  They were still in WWII Navy paint.

BIG GAME

Never thought I'd catch a live Caribou, but one magically appeared at Falcon today.  This was supposed to be just a test shot to make sure I could frame it how I wanted and clear some obstacles (cloned out in this image), but it wound up being the only shot I got since the crew was covering the nose with a canopy cover less than a minute after I shot this.

ANGRY BIRD

For as long as I've lived near Falcon, I've never caught any of MD's military birds.  Finally caught one today, albeit in somewhat atrocious light from most angles.  Shot this using spot metering, then used recovery in Lightroom to recover the blown-out background, but that introduced some quirky pinks and purples in the sky, so I killed those as much as I could while bringing out as much blue as I could.  Not a natural-looking shot by any means, but I rather like how it came out.
