So good, Jay.  Was this from the east side of the park along the canal?  That's where I was planning on going this time around, had life and fatherhood not had other plans.

I was on the same side of the park as everyone else.  I just turned around and shot 'em after they lifted off from the park.

You should also read that while I was jumping up and down like a giddy school girl as each 53 arrived/departed the park, Messrs. Beckman continued to look for other photo opportunities. You could have certainly got a shot like that from the east side of the park, Jay simply looked beyond the obvious and found some wonderful gems that I missed - all the credit to him. Just imagine your child's first visit to Disneyland and how mesmerized they became when they saw Mickey for the first time - now you know what I was doing  ;D

I had a hunch, but figured I'd ask.  Seems like every time I've gone for that shot from the west side, the window of opportunity from when the dust cloud passed to when the helo dropped out of sight behind a tree was very quick, if a window even existed.   The NEO for 2-12 was insanely dusty.

Holy smokes, Ned, that Osprey shot is a stunner.

This NEO had a lot of grass and other debris that was blown around (we were all wearing the park by the end of the evening), the dust actually wasn't so bad.
