The NASA Social to welcome the Space Shuttle Endeavour to California was held September 19-21, at NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center which is a tenant of Edwards Air Force Base.  This was an amazing experience to be a part of!  Not only did we get to see Endeavour arrive at and depart from Edwards Air Force Base for the very last time, but we also were able to talk with and learn from many different people in the NASA community.  Here are a few of the items from the three-day agenda:

Day 1

  • Dryden History
  • Life Support - Flight and Astronaut Suits
  • Weather Balloons
  • Experimental Fabrication Shop
  • Flight Loads Lab
  • F-18 Simulator
  • Next Generation of Space Flight (Dream Chaser)
  • Global Hawk

Day 2

  • Dryden X-Press Interview
  • Watch Endeavour/SCA arrival at Edwards AFB from side of runway
  • Endeavour Briefing
  • Tour SCA

Day 3

  • Watch Endeavour/SCA depart Edwards AFB from side of runway
  • LIVE Interview with KNBC 4 Southern California

Matt, that is hands-down the best SCA departure shot I have ever seen.
"I'm sorry sir, you can't take photos of that aircraft."

"If you've seen my work, you'd know I really can't take photos of any aircraft."
