Unfortunately, my images of Endeavor's final flight to LAX are beset with heat haze issues. It is creating a dilemma for me and my limited post processing skills. So far, I've not had much success in minimizing the mirage distortion that was present at our shooting location. I'll keep working with the hopes of salvaging a decent image that helps to represent this wonderful experience. All my complaining aside, I'm glad I was there no matter the challenges  ;D

Not to be thwarted by a little heat haze, I've tried a faux IR monochrome conversion and attacked the mirage with contrast.

Hey Jeff dont be too concerned with the heat haze, I have been going through some of the photos people took out there that day and compared to them we did pretty well, mine are just as bad but like you said this time at least for me was more about capturing the moment, I think your stuff came out fantastic, as usuall  :P

Jeff, the monochrome is tack sharp, great treatment!  You beat the heat.

Chris Janes

The monochrome looks great..nicely done.

Thanks guys for the kind comments. I hope to find a few better pixels in these images. I appreciate your inspiration.

Endeavour at the beginning of its career.  It was delivered from Air Force Plant 42 at Palmdale on May 2, 1991.  That was back when it still had that new space shuttle smell.

Eric that is one of the best photos I have seen of Endeavor on the move through LA.  Well done sir!

Chris Janes

Started transferring pics from the old pc to the new mac and thought I would post this. Sure miss seeing the shuttle launches.
