Taking a stab at it here...and I think you were squeaky close...the last two digits of the N number are 'FX', as in "Cause and...FX"?

Great stuff Brian! I remember it well.  I especially like the older Western Airlines 720.  Those and their Electras were always favorites.  I sure miss the Terminal 2 observation deck, same with Terminal 1 for that matter.

Thanks Scott!  I spent a lot of time on the Terminal 2 observation deck.  I remember how the old skinny fanjets would scream as the 707s taxied into the gate. Western changed their livery shortly after I started shooting 35mm Kodachrome.

I really thought I had finally got Dave's request fulfilled and the 787 would arrive in good late afternoon/evening light. Well the arrival time was excellent, but a change of runway from the recent norm of 25R to 26 foiled "the plan".

WRONG PLACE RIGHT TIME

The upside was I was present when Jay finally nailed his full moon aircraft crossing shot. I did my best with my "puny" lens, but I still needed to make a significant crop. I look forward to Jay's image.

I really thought I had finally got Dave's request fulfilled and the 787 would arrive in good late afternoon/evening light. Well the arrival time was excellent, but a change of runway from the recent norm of 25R to 26 foiled "the plan".

Bummer.  I watched it come in from the northeast and it came like it was going to make an approach for 26, then swerved south, looking like it was going to land on the 25s.  I actually had my phone out ready to text you when it looked like he was going north, but held off when he made that turn south.

Talk about alignment! Jay's Canon 2000mm f/1.2L VR II should yield a full frame moon!  In regard to the 787, dang!  BTW my friend at American doesn't have any intel on the AA side. Still bound to US Airways info.
