The Legend of the Guardian of the Line
The Greek God "Linus" comes from the Greek name Λινος (Linos) meaning "leg."
In Greek legend, he was the son of the God Apollo who was accidentally killed when he stepped over the white line.

Apparently this was one of the final flights of an Evergreen 747-200.  Word is they have all been parked now.

Yep, all 3 airworthy 747s have been parked. It appears that their Supertanker(s?) is also parked at MZJ with no engines, so my guess is that they won't fly any of the classics anymore.

Also, I was at T4 yesterday and taxiways T & S (bridges between T3/T4) are currently open.

From the FWIW Department, a UK aviation shooter named Mark McGrath tells me; "Word is that the USAF has banned the 747-200's from undertaking airlift charters due to the high fuel costs compared to other types. USAF picks up the fuel bill on these flights". I'm not sure where Mark is getting his intel; however, it may make sense since the seasonal work for FedEx and UPS probably does not feed the bulldog for an entire year.

There was something like that on the A.net forum. I also read something like those contracts pay a fixed price per mile, and if the operator incurs any extra costs then it comes out of their profits (so say DoD pays standard rate for a 747-400, and if you use a -200, whatever the extra costs are they come out of your own pocket).

Not exactly sure which one is the most accurate one, but the high fuel costs are definitely to blame. Not to mention, the -1/2/300 takes a flight engineer, the -400s don't.
