Beautiful shots Joe, do they always have such a great variety of aircraft like these? It's a real smorgasbord of airframes. I hope things work out for the 25th.

Joe Copalman

Thanks Harvey.

The variety we get at Coolidge is hit and miss, but this last one was a strong opening.  There had to have been over fifty distinct types, and I think it was just under 100 aircraft that flew in for this one.  Really surprising for an October.  Wondering how the November one will go with Copperstate just the week prior.

Terrific work Anna. The angle works very well on the Waco.

Thank you Jeff....   :)

I'll second Jeff's comments.  May I ask what shutter speed you used?  Prop blur looks great as does the entire photo.

The 300mm f/2.8L II is proving itself quite nicely. I sold off a bunch of equipment and could buy one now but it feels so good to have all that money in the bank I think I'll leave it there for a while. The temptation is huge!  I rented an older version recently and was suitably impressed.  I understand the new version (II) is noticeably lighter and better in a number of other respects.  You're results are great, of course it's not just the equipment taking the photos!!

My keeper rate is much better with the new lens.... Works well with the 1.4 extender too.

Downside, it makes culling through a big weekend of images more time consuming.  There are more good ones to think through the possibilities for the image with creative cropping and such.   ;D

Not a great shot, but I am glad I caught it!

What John left out was the part about how he (safely) retrieved the sweater while the runway was clear, making it safe for aircraft operation again.  Who knows what would have happened had we not been out there.

Good job John. FOD of any kind can be a great hazard to aircraft and with some of the smaller homebuilt guys especially. You did the flying public a great service. Well done!
