This is the result of a complete lack of sleep last night, and a few cocktails.

Looking at it today, I'm not so sure it is any good.

How say you?

You know, it's not half-bad.  The slower shutter speed really does a good job of conveying movement (and check out how long that 30mm round is stretched out!), and the shadows of the tails on the smoke clouds from the gun are a very cool detail highlighted by the processing.  Not something I'd want to look at all the time, but it's a cool effect.  Only thing that really stands out as a strike against it is the halo effect.

I've been there before.  Here's an A-4 shot I edited after a few too many Jack & Cokes a few years ago:

What seemed like such a good idea at the time didn't look anywhere near as good the next morning.

Enough about the picture.  ;D Joe, I'll have to set you up with one of my Jack & Cokes some time. I keep my Jack in the freezer, along with my tumblers. The ice is never from one of those bogus home ice makers, always Redi Ice or Arctic Ice. The quality and shape make a difference. The Coke is always freshly opened, and Mexican. It's lighter tasting and doesn't hang around in your mouth like the corn syrup used in U.S. Coke does. I go 50/50 on the mix, or maybe a little heavier on the Jack. It makes for an oakey (that word just looks wrong), caramel sort of taste which can't be beat.

If you just toss warm Jack over bad ice in a warm glass, it gets diulted and flat. You want that fizz and the nice hit of Uncle Jack.

For me, Jack and Cokes are typically Vanilla Coke (smoother than Classic) and Jack Daniels Single Barrel (smoother than the black-label stuff, worth the extra $) with one-third Jack and two-thirds Coke.  Never thought to put the Jack in the freezer, but I like that idea mucho, because you're right about warm whiskey diluting everything faster.  Will definitely have to try that, along with the MexiCoke.

Vanilla Coke? Now I have to try that.

I tried the Single Barrel, but don't like the extra proofage. Gentleman Jack is OK, but I just stick with the standard Jack and I'm happy.

Now, if I'm in a sippin' mood, I break out the Maker's Mark, or I go the tequila route and break out the Don Julio 1942. That stuff is amazing. They age it in old cognac barrels.

Pepsi Vanilla actually mixed better, especially with spiced rum, but they stopped making that a few years back.

And +1 on Maker's Mark.

I'm quite fond of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey with either Vanilla Coke or Root Beer.

The Greek God "Linus" comes from the Greek name Λινος (Linos) meaning "leg."
In Greek legend, he was the son of the God Apollo who was accidentally killed when he stepped over the white line.

Jeff, there's still hope for you. I'll try to corrupt you once I get back to the valley and can throw an AzAP party.  8)

And once I have you properly lubricated, we'll toss another tire off the Hoover Dam.

I love good honey, and I love Jack Daniel's, but I can not drink that JD Honey. A good friend bought me a bottle. I had one sip and knew it wasn't for me. I gave it away.

Joe, a new bottle has arrived.

This will last me six months or more, so we need to figure out a date for you to come over and try this nectar some time in the future.

Hey Paul:

I was raised by a pro shooter who did everything possible to eliminate 'grain' from his prints. In the digital world, I am haunted by that upbringing. Today's 'noise' is yesterday's 'grain' - so to speak. Accordingly, I'm not a fan of the 'noise' in this image. It distracts my eye. The 'noise' on the Hornet might work for me as an almost pencil rendering of sorts, but the 'noise' in the clouds/sky just kills it for me. I like the dark monochrome conversion and the mood/feel it adds to the image. To be extra nit-picky, there is some 'haloing' at various locations on the Hornet that could be minimized with additional PP work. It is most noticeable around the vertical stabilizers.

Please take my comments with a grain of salt. I'm not the most conservative pixel massager on AzAP, so I don't want this to sound hypocritical. In addition, I applaud your effort to try something different and take a walk on the wild side  ;D

Don't quit working on your vision with respect to this image. Take what you find helpful from other's comments and then work to make the final version your own.
