Wow Ned, that came out pretty good given the light situation.

Yeah, a little more light would have been good.  About 30 seconds after it landed the sun came out again!

Nice catch Ned, I've never seen a rocket pod like this one either. Nice clean jet.

Looks like a standard LAU-131, only with extended tubes.  The 2.75" rockets have a variety of warheads, some of them much longer than others.  My hunch is that this launcher was either built or adapted to accommodate rockets with the longer warheads.

I found this budget summary outlining the acquisition of a bunch of ordnance for the Air Force, including "LAU-131 Extended Length Launchers," for the Advanced Precision Kill Weapons System, which is the fancy name for laser-guided 2.75" rockets.  LAU-131 info on page 7: http://www.dtic.mil/descriptivesum/Y2012/AirForce/0604602F_5_PB_2012.pdf

Thanks Joe. Looks like the right answer to me. I'm surprised we didn't see it first on one of the Test Center A-10s.

I'm sure this was tested out at Eglin or Nellis by the active-duty test guys first.  Wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing it on the AATC birds though.
